Spring ComeAround in Union Grove
Weather notwithstanding the Spring ComeAround was busy and fun.
The rain started on Wednesday as everyone was arriving and setting up coaches.
Dinner at Shiki Japanese restaurant and back to the campground. No campfires in torrential rain.
Thursday dawned with heavy rain but we headed out to the Amish Store for lunch and a wine-tasting at Buck Shoals winery.
They felt so sorry for us at the winery that they set up tables for us to eat lunch in the winery. Followed by a wonderful
tour of the winery by the winemaster and a wine tasting.
Dinner was at the home of the firsties. Wings and the trimmings were enjoyed plus Wicked Good Maine whoopie pies
for dessert.
Again, no campfire due to the monsoons!!!
Friday morning was shopping at the outlets in Statesville and a trip to see the frescoe at the Civic Center.
Lunch was the "Cook Shack" which is Americana at it's "old-timey" best.
The board meeting was held under the canopy. The canopy was a Godsend. Of course the rain is still steady
and consistent.
Dinner was at Theo's Italian Restaurant. Good food and fellowship.
Saturday breakfast was Rosemary's treat of breakfast casseroles and crumb cakes.
Free time until dinner back at the Hebbard's. Carolina barbecue and ALL the trimmings was the Southern fare.
Sunday morning as we all prepared to depart, the SUN made an appearance! A final goodbye over donuts and coffee
and an end to the comearound in Union Grove.
